Bill Number: SB 1AB 1

  • Bill Description: Increases, from 12% to 15%, the allowable ratio of Tax Incremental District (TID) value increments to total equalized value of taxable property in the village of Oostburg.
  • WEDA Position: SUPPORT

 

Bill Number:  SB 49 / AB 123

  • Bill Description: Provides $23 million in new funding for Wisconsin broadband expansion programs, including the Public Service Commission's Broadband Expansion Grant Program and the Technology for Educational Achievement (TEACH) Program. The bill also establishes new priority criteria for grant awards under the Broadband Expansion Grant Program.
  • Bill Status: Senate Bill 49 was approved by the Senate Rural Issue Committee and the Joint Finance Committee. SB 49 was passed by the full Senate on 04/04/17. The Assembly version of the bill (AB 123) was approved by the Assembly Energy and Utilities Committee and the Joint Finance Committee.

Bill Number:  SB 51 / AB 81

  • Bill Description: Makes numerous technical changes to Wisconsin TIF law.
  • Bill Status: Senate Bill 51 was approved by the Senate Government Operations Committee and the Joint Finance Committee. SB 51 was passed by the full Senate on 03/07/17. The Assembly version of the bill (Assembly Bill 81) was referred to the Assembly Ways and Means Committee.

Bill Number:  SB 127 / AB 192

  • Bill Description: Eliminates the current funding cap on Wisconsin's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Incentive Grant program to ensure school districts receive full grant awards. The CTE grant program provides financial support to school districts that provide educational opportunities for student to earn industry recognized certifications in high-demand professions.
  • Bill Status: Senate Bill 127 was referred to the Senate Workforce Development Committee. The Assembly version of the bill (Assembly Bill 192) was referred to the Assembly Workforce Development Committee.

Bill Number:  SB 173 / AB 179

  • Bill Description: Makes numerous modifications to current law regulating brownfield revitalization.
  • Bill Status: Senate Bill 173 was referred to the Senate Government Operations Committee. The Assembly version of the bill (Assembly Bill 179) was referred to the Assembly Environment and Forestry Committee.
  • WEDA Position: MONITOR

 

Bill Number:  SB 184 / AB 266

  • Bill Description: Would make several changes to the eligibility requirements for the Technical Excellence Higher Education Scholarship Program.
  • Bill Status: Senate Bill 184 was referred to the Senate Universities and Technical Colleges Committee. Assembly Bill 266 was referred to the Assembly Colleges and Universities Committee.

Bill Number:  AB 277

  • Bill Description: Would eliminate the personal property tax as of January 1, 2018. The bill would also require the state to reimburse municipalities for the loss of personal property tax revenue based on personal property on the tax rolls as of 2017.
  • Bill Status: Assembly Bill 277 was referred to the Assembly Government Ways and Means Committee.
