"Leading Change at UW-Milwaukee"
Nancy L. Zimpher, Chancellor,
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee
|
According to Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, universities are not known for their ability to work with community partners. More often universities are known to create what they believe are solutions, then go look for the problems that they can solve. However, The Milwaukee Idea, developed and led by Chancellor Zimpher, is the exception to this rule. This initiative - part attitude, part engagement with the community, and part investment plan - is the catalyst for change in a manner not before seen in urban Milwaukee. Learn how this cooperative approach to leadership was developed, how it is working and whether it can be applied to other situations. The Milwaukee Idea is now the framework for UWM's work in areas as diverse as education, economic development, and environment and public health.
