Case Study: Successful Cities – Connecting the Dots

Edward M. Sitar, Economic Development
Manager, ComEd – An Exelon Company

Successful communities have long understood the importance of supporting and nurturing existing industries. In 2000, ComEd spearheaded the launch of a largescale business retention effort in the City of Chicago called the Chicago Industrial Trend Report. Mr. Sitar will describe how the program provides the City and the participating local industrial councils with a standardized survey platform to collect information on the opinions and needs of manufacturing business leaders. Over 1,200 visits in Chicago have been conducted representing over 88,000 jobs. Are you methodically visiting your local businesses, enhancing your community’s identified strengths, and minimizing your identified challenges?
