February 9-11, 1999

Dear Friends: Governor Tommy Thompson Experts predict that business will change more in the next 10 years than it has in the last 50 years. The Internet Revolution is turning competition upside down. Worker's expectations are changing. Windows of opportunity are narrowing to "razor slits" of opportunity. - It is critical for business and government to prepare for the future. We must take advantage of new discoveries and turn them into job-producing companies that will fuel our economy. Together, we can conquer the challenges of the new millennium and succeed - at high velocity.

At no time in history has a new century held such promise and possibility. As we enter a new era, Wisconsin is a state of excellence. We are a national leader in the:
  • Percentage of people working.
  • SAT and ACT scores of our students.
  • Number of families leaving welfare for work.
At the 2000 Governor's Conference on Economic Development, we will work together to develop a strategy for the future - from finding employees and breaking through barriers to identifying a competitive edge.

Don't miss this opportunity to begin your journey and pioneer new ways for your organization, community and the state of Wisconsin to succeed in the 21st century. Attend the Governor's Conference on February 9, 10 and 11 in Madison.

Sincerely,
Tommy G. Thompson
