The highly regarded Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) will be held at the Pyle Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus from Sept. 9 (2:00 PM) through Sept. 12, 2019 (1:00 PM). This course provides expert instruction in the basic concepts, theories and methods of economic development from experienced professionals and instructors.
Participants will study the core building blocks of economic development, including:
- Economic development finance
- Managing a local economic development organization
- Small business development & entrepreneurship
- Business attraction and retention
- Community and neighborhood development
- Workforce development
- Real estate development
The BEDC is essential for economic developers, public officials and others seeking a basic, yet intensive overview of economic development. Graduation from the BEDC fulfills one of the prerequisites for those who wish to pursue the Certified Economic Developer Designation (CEcD) through the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
The four-day course will be held in Madison, WI from Sept. 9 through Sept.12, 2019. Scholarships will be available.
