Jason Monnett to Serve as Wisconsin Economic Development Association Chairman of the Board

The Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) today officially selected Jason Monnett as the association’s next Chairman of the Board of Directors at WEDA’s annual Governor’s Conference on Economic Development held virtually Feb. 4-5, 2021. Monnett, who is a Senior Vice President and Senior Lender at WBD, Inc., will serve as WEDA Board Chair through Feb. 2022.

“I am honored to serve as WEDA’s 2021 Board Chair and look forward to working with the board, staff and entire WEDA membership to pursue our ultimate goal of advancing Wisconsin’s economy and creating new opportunities for business growth and individual prosperity,” said Monnett. “This year, perhaps more than ever, economic development professionals will play a critical role in the recovery and hopefully the expansion of the state’s economy as we strive to return to a ‘normal’ life.”

Monnett, a long-time WEDA Board member who previously served as the association’s treasurer, has been with WBD, Inc. for nearly twenty years, starting as a loan officer and quickly climbing through the organization to the level of senior vice president. During his tenue, he has been integral to WBD’s mission of providing small businesses with access to capital to help them grow, create jobs, and build their communities. Monnett holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a graduate of the UW-Madison School of Banking.

“WEDA is thrilled to have Jason serve as our Chairman of the Board for the upcoming year,” said WEDA President and CEO Mary Perry. “We will rely heavily on his strong leadership, experience, and unique perspective coming from the financial industry as we continue to work to overcome the organizational challenges presented by the pandemic.”

Monnett follows Bob Dennik, who served as WEDA’s Chairman of the Board for 2020. Dennik will continue to serve on the WEDA Board as Immediate Past-Board Chair.
